The 200th anniversary of Bahá’u’lláh’s birth

What: Join Pittsburgh’s Baha’i community and friends in celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh, Founder of the Baha’i Faith.
Bahá’u’lláh (1817-1892) was a spiritual teacher Who announced in 1863 that He was the bearer of a new revelation from God. His teachings have spread around the world, forming the basis of a process of social transformation and community building which is unique in its global scope and the diversity of participants.
The Light of Unity Festival, whose theme is Unity in Diversity, is a celebration of the transformative impact of Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings on the lives of families, neighborhoods and communities around the country and the world. Bahá’u’lláh’s vision of humanity as both united and richly diverse offers an antidote to the racial prejudice and materialism that are corroding American society.
> From 1:30 – 3:15 PM, attendees will be invited to experience Unity in Diversity through dance, music, visual arts and a discussion group, as they explore one or more simultaneous activities taking place throughout our venue. A room with activities for children will center on the light of unity and the life of Bahá’u’lláh. Tempting snacks will also be available throughout this period.
>The afternoon will culminate with the showing, at 3:30, of a 60-minute film about the life and teachings of Bahá’u’lláh. A facilitated discussion period will wrap up the afternoon. This yet-to-be released film will be translated into multiple languages and shown worldwide during the weekend of October 21, 2017.
